24hr Charity Match at Lakeside August 17/18th 2013
After the success of last years’ event in aid of Charlie Codling, we have decided to make this an annual event, and raise money for a local charity each year. This year we have decided to raise money for Samuel who suffers from cerebral palsy, and needs to go to the USA for a operation, and then some lengthy post operative therapy in the UK.
This will hopefully greatly improve Samuel’s quality of life due to the increased movement ability, and help him lead a more normal life, which in turn will help his family.
Please feel free to visit the website and it may help you appreciate how much he needs our help, and the difference we can all make to Samuel and his family.
I will always remember last year when Steve Codling told me that it wasn’t just the money being raised that helped Charlie, but the strength he got from knowing they were not on their own, and we were behind them all the way. Please, please try to help in any way you can.
You can send a cheque made payable to Samuels Fund, take part in the charity match, be a steward, buy a raffle ticket or just come along and join in with us all on the day.
Here follows a programme for the day:
1300hrs; Competitors meet in the car park for a barbecue, and the draw for the 24hr competition will take place.
1500hrs; The 24hr match begins.
1500hrs; The match will finish and the Match secretary, Mick Collins will calculate the weights.
1530hrs; Everyone congregates in the car park for the presentation of the trophies. This will be followed by the raffle draw, which we hope Samuel himself will be doing.
This will be followed by a brief photo session to record the event and hopefully raise the awareness for Samuels case.
The cost of the 24hr match is £15, which includes the barbecue food.
Please feel free to come along and take part, and remember that if you need any gear, we will help in any way we can. John Dine and Jo will be organising the barbecue, and Jo will pop round around 5 to take orders for fish & chips, should you wish.
But please remember that most people who take part are not interested in winning, just being there is enough. It is a fantastic atmosphere and many friendships are made along the way.
If you have any questions, please phone or email Roy Adams, John Dine, Daz Turner, Dave LeGresley or Mick Collins
