Welcome to the Portsmouth & District Angling Society
Who are we and what do we offer?
Portsmouth & District Angling Society was founded in 1948 and is now one of the leading angling Clubs in the South. We boast 16 different venues which all offer a variety of different fishing to suit all anglers.
The Club ensures that all aspects of angling interests are catered for, ranging from mixed fisheries to specimen waters. All of the Club’s waters boast a 5-year plan which ensures that they continue to improve and are stocked to the right level to provide the maximum sport, but still being within the capability of the pond. The plans also provide a focus for the Fishery Team to ensure that the aims of each fishery are reached, and great sport is achieved for its members to enjoy. Day tickets are available for non members to sample a small selection of our waters – more info is available on the Day Ticket page.
Although the Club is called Portsmouth & District Angling Society, a vast majority of the waters are in the Fareham area. There are 6 different venues within a few miles of junction 9 of the M27. These waters offer some of the best mixed fishing in the area with waters like Tithe Barn, Carron Row Farm, Abshot Pond and Funtley Pond, to some excellent specimen carp fishing with fish over 30lb in Brownwich Pond. There is also some really quiet and adventurous small river fishing on offer with a wander of the River Wallington, much of which hasn’t been fished or discovered yet.
If you want to travel a little further down the M27, there are even more great waters available such as Lakeside near Cosham, Soake Pond at Denmead and Sinah on Hayling Island. Sinah offers some of the best looking carp in the South, with many being of the famous Leney strain. A little further afield finds Stanbridge Farm Ponds and the River Rother tributary in Petersfield. This is the latest edition to our portfolio and offers 2 picturesque ponds and a stretch of river to try.
Our members also have access to exchange books allowing them to sample a selection of other Angling Club’s waters – more info available on our Exchange Book page. All in all, we offer a varied choice to cover everyone’s needs!
We have a busy member’s only forum and an informative public Facebook page to keep everyone up-to-date with the latest Club events and news. We also send out regular newsletters via email. The Fishery Team holds regular work parties to keep the waters looking their best, and Members are always welcome to come along and lend a hand!
We have an active Match scene, with regular club matches and a season championship being held along with various Charity Matches through the season.
We look forward to welcoming you to our club….
